When undergoing breast implant removal, there are some basic things that are important to understand. The procedure can address many different concerns such as:

After your procedure is complete, it is common to experience some discomfort. Usually, it can take roughly 2 weeks for the majority of your downtime related pain to subside. After 4-6 weeks, you should be able to return to your full daily routine and partake in whichever activities that you please.

During the surgery itself, you should not feel pain due to the anaesthetic that is given during the procedure.
It is normal to feel some kind of pain and discomfort after breast implant removal surgery. Fortunately, this pain should be mild and the main period of discomfort is within the first 1-2 weeks.
After this period, pain is usually negligible and more inconvenient than anything else and should completely subside after 6 weeks.
When should I consider Breast Implant Removal?
Breast implants are considered to have a certain lifespan of around 10-15 years. After this period of time, your implants should usually be removed. This is the most common reason for the removal of breast implants; however, other reasons could include:
- Breast implant leaking
- Implants causing pain
- Calcium deposit build-up
- Autoimmune implant response
- Movement of one or both implants
- Necrosis around the implant

When recovering from breast implant removal, everyone’s amount of downtime may vary; however, after around 2 weeks, your discomfort should lessen and swelling reduce.
After a minimum of 4 weeks you may return to light exercise and most people are fully recovered at the 6 week mark.
