A dental abscess, or tooth abscess, is where a bacterial infection causes the accumulation of pus inside a tooth or within the gums. At a basic level, pain on biting and/ or discharge coming from the gum adjacent to the affected tooth and/ or a bad odour from the mouth may suggest an abscess.
